Government Contractor Accounting

Book Your GovCon Compliance Consult Today

Stop Worrying About DCAA Audits. Start Winning More Contracts

Government contracting is the definition of high-stakes. The opportunities are massive, but the regulatory environment is unlike any other.

You didn’t start your company to spend your nights worrying about indirect rates, FAR Part 31, or whether your timekeeping system will trigger a DCAA audit.

At Fiscal Wealth Partners (FWP), we build the bulletproof, DCAA-compliant financial systems that let you stop managing compliance and start managing your strategy

You’re a GovCon Expert. You Shouldn’t Have to Be a DCAA Expert, Too.

Risk of Failed Audits

The margin for error is razor-thin. A non-compliant system doesn’t just mean a failed audit; it means lost bids, withheld payments, and a ceiling on your growth.

Wasted Internal Time

You’re focused on the mission, not FAR Part 31. We give you back your time by shouldering the complex burden of compliance, from ICS submissions to timekeeping policies.

A Ceiling on Your Growth

You can’t bid on larger (and more profitable) contracts until your systems are approved. Your accounting should be a launchpad, not an anchor.

Your Complete DCAA & FAR Compliance Partner

DCAA Compliance & Audit Readiness

This is the cornerstone of GovCon accounting. We move you from a reactive "audit defense" posture to a proactive state of "audit readiness."

  • DCAA-Compliant Accounting System Setup: We build your financial framework from the ground up, establishing a compliant chart of accounts and the right cost pool structure.
  • Audit & Survey Preparation: We are your front line of defense, preparing you for DCAA pre-award surveys (SF1408) and incurred cost submissions (ICS).
  • Timekeeping & Labor Policies: We help you implement and document the strict timekeeping policies that DCAA auditors scrutinize first.
Strategic Indirect Rate Management

Your indirect rates are the single most important factor in your pricing and profitability. We don’t just calculate your rates; we help you manage them.

  • Price Bids Competitively: Know your true costs (Fringe, Overhead, and G&A) and bid with confidence.
  • Improve Profitability: Understand how operational decisions (like new hires or office leases) will impact your rates and bottom line.
  • Forecast Accurately: Use real-time rate data to build reliable budgets and forecasts.
FAR-Driven Accounting

Every dollar on a federal contract must be allowable, allocable, and reasonable according to FAR Part 31. We integrate these principles directly into your daily bookkeeping.

  • Contract Alignment: We align your accounting with your contract types (CPFF, T&M, FFP).
  • Cost Segregation: We ensure all direct, indirect, and unallowable costs are separated perfectly.
  • Iron-Clad Audit Trail: We handle the details so your books are always ready for agency review.

More Than an Accountant. Your Strategic GovCon Partner.

Your Fractional CFO & Data-Driven Dashboard

Being compliant is the minimum. The real goal is to be profitable and scalable. As part of our service, you get CPA-level oversight customized for the GovCon environment.

We blend human expertise with technology, giving you access to automated dashboards that track the KPIs that actually matter to your business:

  • Real-time project cost and profitability
  • Current vs. target indirect rates
  • Contract backlog and funding burn rates
  • Cash flow forecasts and “what-if” scenarios
  • Labor utilization and project margins
Mistake 1 – Improper Cost Segregation

Mixing direct and indirect costs is a cardinal sin. We build a system that makes this impossible, protecting you from having costs disallowed.

Mistake 2 – Weak Timekeeping Policies

Relying on verbal corrections or sloppy timesheets is a guaranteed audit failure. We help you implement a system and policy that creates an iron-clad audit trail.

Mistake 3 – Ignoring Unallowable Costs

You can’t charge the government for everything. We ensure costs like lobbying, entertainment, and certain legal fees are properly segregated so you never bill for them.

Mistake 4 – Mismanaging Subcontractors

As a prime, you are responsible for your subs’ compliance. We help you establish processes to manage sub-consultant invoicing, monitoring, and compliance flow-downs.

Solutions That Scale With Your Success

Frequently Asked Business Questions

What accounting software do you support?

We are experts in setting up and managing DCAA-compliant systems in the most common platforms for GovCons, including QuickBooks (Desktop and Online), Unanet, and Deltek. We can advise on the right system for your size and contract types.

What's the difference between DCAA and FAR?

Think of it this way: The FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) is the rulebook. It defines what costs are allowable, allocable, and reasonable. The DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) is the auditor. They are the agency that checks if you are following the rules in the FAR.

My business is small. Isn't this kind of service too expensive?

A non-compliant system is far more expensive. It can cost you entire contracts, or worse, lead to suspended payments. Our fractional services are designed to scale, giving you access to a full team of CPA-level experts for a fraction of the cost of one full-time senior GovCon accountant.

How long does it take to get my system DCAA-compliant?

This depends on your current system. For a new setup, we can often have you compliant in a matter of weeks. For a “cleanup” project, it may take 30-90 days. The most important first step is the DCAA pre-award survey (SF1408), which we prepare you to pass.

Do you only serve clients in the DC/MD/VA (DMV) area?

While we are headquartered in the DMV and have deep expertise in the local federal market, we serve government contractors nationwide. We leverage modern, cloud-based tools to provide seamless support to clients across the country.

Worried your tax refund is smaller than it should be?

Multiple income sources, overlooked deductions, and rushed filing.

We maximize refunds through proactive, advisor-led preparation.
